Pakistani actress Meera is bold ???

If boldness is the buzzword today, popular Pakistani actress Meera is certainly following the trend. Awaiting the release of her debut film in India, Mahesh Bhatt’s “Nazar”, she is confidence personified. She doesn’t feel intimidated by the persistent enquiries about her choice of a bold role, particularly the kissing scene that created quite a flutter in her country. In the film, Meera plays a dancer and choreographer, to whom is passed on the power of foreseeing murders of bar girls and prostitutes by a dying woman. “The role is not only different but also a tough one at that,” says the 28-year-old.

Meera says her father, siblings, two sisters who live in London and two brothers, have supported her, but her mother is upset and worried. Talking about Soni Razdan, Meera refers to her as an elder sister. “Initially I had problems interacting with her, kyunki woh angrezi bahut bolti hain (she mostly speaks in English) and my English is not good. In India, everyone speaks English. We don’t do that as much in Pakistan.” Overwhelmed by her newfound celebrity status in India, the actress avers, “I have never received such a response all through my modelling and film days in Pakistan. I am now being written about even internationally. It is quite an achievement for me.” Meera, who started modelling at the age of 14, has done a few successful films and TV shows. She will now be featuring in Bhatt’s next film starring Emraan Hashmi and is all set to produce a film on the situation of Asians in the U.K.
